Hi Michelle – I’m trying to find a way to give direction to my creative spark! I’m been painting off and on for years – 20+. Recently retired, I want to focus more on it as it makes me so happy to paint. But, I freeze when I look at the blank, white canvas, and have a very tight, rigid style which doesn’t seem to be ‘me’. I love flowing expressive paintings. I used to do ink drawings and even though the medium was tight – they flowed into creative, on the spot drawings that were wonderful. Now, I freeze up even trying them! I’m hoping to remove the rigid layer I have built around my creative mind!
Thank you for sharing your journey and it’s perfectly normal to feel the worry of the blank canvas so let me tell you, you are not alone. You need a process you can follow that will help make things easier and if you want to be more free in your style I can certainly help with this as well.
