To clean acrylic brushes, start by wiping off any excess paint on a rag. This will remove most of the paint from the bristles and prevent it from drying and becoming harder to remove. Next, run the brush under warm water in the sink and add a drop of dish soap. Gently work the soap into the bristles, making sure to clean the base of the bristles where paint often accumulates. Rinse the brush thoroughly with warm water, making sure all soap residue is removed. Repeat the process if necessary. Once the brush is clean, reshape the bristles and lay the brush flat to air dry.
Take caution when leaving brushes unattended during painting, especially on hot days, as acrylic paint can quickly dry and damage the bristles. To prevent this, it’s recommended to periodically submerge the brushes in water, but not for an extended period as too much water can also harm the bristles.
