My first attempt was funny. My hydrangeas had more petals. I am going to do another one. I have not got the right size canvas for mine so waiting for them to arrive.

You can always paint over the petals. Don’t worry it’ll get easier.

I loved the process of building up and not worrying too much as multiple layers to come. Tried to use the big brush but fear of messy edges pushed me back to emergency small brush use. Might try the biggest template next to see if it pushes me to be looser? Like the hold the brush near the end suggestion. Feels masterly.

Amazing to hear Linda. Yes you could try a larger piece or just use a much bigger brush and challenge yourself to create it in as few marks as possible whilst building layers.

I’m just getting back into painting. This was fun! I love the all the color. I need to lighten up on the strokes and not overdo it.

Wow that was quick. Amazing work. Be sure to share it in the community and if you ever want feedback just add #feedback.

I just finished this today. It was an interesting process. Working in layers throughout the painting seems to free me from worrying about any one area as I am going back to it later to add more contrast or detail. It was fun. Looking forward to further challenges. Not sure how to share a photo?

I’m so pleased you enjoyed the process and thank you for sharing in the community. Really great piece.

I absolutely love the finished product. Your process is genius . It is painstakingly detailed for my brain. Do I force myself to go through it as detailed as you to learn and then modify in the future ?

I would go through the process I’m showing you first and then modify yourself. That way you will get the most from the lesson and it will absorb more, then you can adapt it to how you like.

I sat and watched this and enjoyed your process. I can’t wait to get started. I want a couple of colors to arrive before I start. I did do this painting a while back because I loved this painting…I faked my way through it, but still was semi-pleased with the result. I Can’t wait to do it your way! I certainly muddled my way through it the first time and look forward to see the comparison and progress.
Glad I joined your six week class. I know I will learn volumes.
